Welcome
on the website of my workshop!
My
affection for music instruments, my music abilities come from
the music family ties. I play the contrabass, cello and bass
guitar.
As
assistant music instrument maker I stood at the work-bench
in 1980 for the very first time. Under the guidance of my
master, Péter Temesvári I passed the exam for assistants with
success. My knowledge in theory is due to my former instructor,
Tibor Semmelweis. As a young assistant I worked in András
Menich’s workshop, where I was involved with tone physics
and vibration.
The
years between 1988-1991 were marked with the features of a
future master, i.e. these were the years of getting around
in the world. I worked in Germany probably in the biggest
showroom of contrabass of the globe. And it was also the time
when I finally decided for the favour of contrabass. I was
lucky to restore really serious, many-hundred-year-old Italian,
French, English and Spanish master instruments, which still
can be used and seen after restoring the original state in
several orchestras of the world.
Having
completed the years of travelling I returned home with practical
expertise and contacts in Europe and in 1992 I could create
my own workshop. The one-man workshop has by now grown into
a workshop employing several assistants and apprentices and
has deserved high reputation locally and in Europe as well.
In 1996 I got my master certificate from Pál Sáránszky’s workshop.
In 1999 I received the first award of the tender ‘Ten prominent
youngsters in Hungary’ in recognition of revival of contrabass
making and restoration. I feel specially honoured by the fact
that it was me, a master living nowadays a Hungarian orchestra
ordered a contrabass from for the first time after fifty years.
It
is a great pleasure for me to give lectures at the international
meeting of contrabass players held at the College of Debrecen
in the topic of music instrument making and restoration.
I
believe if we revive the tones of old instruments of renowned
old masters, their soul will also return. With dedication,
honest and high-level work I work hard for this target with
colleagues trained in my workshop.
